Both of these moments left me shocked and rather annoyed, though in general the book was interesting and fun! I have to say, that I am excited for book two, because I need to know what will happen next…especially with the way the book ends. I rather liked this book, though it could have been upsetting in parts, like when she was torn from Ellie and Tom. Alex must fend for herself in the wilderness, a world filled with fear, suspense and devastation, a world that could be ours at any moment. Alex teams up with 8-year-old Ellie and 20-year-old Tom, who form a make-do family, and are then torn viciously apart. There are so many near brushes with death that, at times, danger becomes tedious and expected, losing some tension.
